Deshea Agee, President of Agee Partners

The Story

Raised in the heart of Milwaukee's 53206 ZIP code — near North 14th and West Burleigh — Deshea graduated from Marquette University High School and worked in newspaper sales while earning his undergraduate degree in business administration from Marquette University. After graduating, he moved into radio sales before later diving into real estate development.

His professional experience spans both private and public sectors. It began with the Associates in Commercial Real Estate (ACRE) program at Marquette in 2005 — his first real estate course, taken thinking the field might pay for studio time to pursue his music. ACRE kicked off a master planning internship on the Pabst Farms development in Oconomowoc, which led to serving as an economic development specialist at the City of Milwaukee's Department of City Development. He earned his real estate broker's license in 2006 and continues to maintain his license.

In 2016, after more than eight years with the city, he joined the Historic King Drive Business Improvement District as its executive director — concentrating a career's worth of experience into one neighborhood to model what a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive can be. He pursued his master's degree in construction management from UW-Stout along the way, with a thesis visioning a toolkit to strengthen commercial corridors named for Dr. King — a framework that could be used for other commercial districts.

After his BID tenure, he joined Emem Group as vice president — supporting real estate development and project management across the firm's portfolio, from catalytic neighborhood projects to complex mixed-use builds, before founding Agee Partners.

Today, through Agee Partners, he leads a consulting agency that helps communities and individuals achieve their goals — buying and selling real estate, building economic development strategy, developing property, and managing projects from vision to completion.
